Kenyans are friendly and open-minded people who openly welcome guests from all over the world. Respect for the different culture demands kind and polite behavior from visitors. Arrogant behavior is definitely out of place even though white people have money to spend. Unfortunately, addressing someone as "boy" who dates back to when Kenya was a colony is still in use today and is highly insulting to our hosts. A Kenyan man should be addressed "Bwana", and a Kenyan woman "Mama" or "Madam". Older people in particular are treated with utmost respect and addresed with "Mzee". Kiswahili is spoken throughout Kenya and not a difficult language to learn. Here is a beginners course:
General note
Kenya is one of the few countries on earth where you experience different eras as you tranvserse the country from north to south. Wherever you are in Kenya, the African starry sky is worth the pause. A special experience is to sit by the sea in the evening and look at the stars.
